My 21st; A Whimsical Dream

This is a really late post, considering that my birthday was in July.
I have so many people to thank for this party and I would like to share with everyone where I got my cake, dessert table, party supplies and buffet from since I got pretty good feedback.

I hope that these would help anyone who is planning their own party.

First of all, the location was at NSRCC which is located at Changi. It is pretty hard to get there, but there are shuttle busses provided to and fro the place. If you know anyone who is a member, you'll be able to get the cheapest rates, if not, anyone who is an NSmen or a regular would get you cheaper rates as compared to the public rates. (You can grab all the details from the website)

There's a huge living room, dining area and kitchen area, which in my opinion, is good for hosting parties like this. The bar table located between the kitchen and the dining room was a perfect location for the dessert table to be set up because I can put balloons at the back :)

This is my dessert table :)
The bad part about this place is that the ants are super quick! The ants flooded the dessert table in about an hour. Thank goodness the desserts were cleared pretty quickly.

So, you must be wondering who I got my dessert table from. Well, I spotted her on Instagram and read reviews about how sweet and meticulous she is, so I decided to order from her. Plus, she introduced her dessert table menu shortly before my birthday, so I jumped at the opportunity.
She is none other than My Sister Bakes! You can find her on instagram at @mysisterbakes as well. Oh and I heard that she's opening a baking studio and having baking classes so be sure to check them out!

This was how my birthday cake looked like. I told her my theme, the colours I would like to have and she tried to accommodate to my theme. I gave suggestions and ideas and she gave even more suggestions as she was more experienced and never was she impatient, given that I was quite fickle minded and indecisive. Though the cake came a little lop sided on the day due to a car that jam breaked in front of them, all else was good. (She did refund me a bit of money though it wasn't her fault, so it was a huge plus point <3)

Here's the inside of the cake. Please pardon the bad cake cutting, we didn't really know how to cut a two-tiered cake. I chose lychee buttercream for one tier and mango for the other. To me and most of my friends, it tasted great, but as usual, older folks didn't quite like the sweetness. Then again, you can't satisfy everyone, so it's ok! :)

Lemon meringue cupcakes

Red velvet rose cookies

Snickers bar cheesecake pie

Mini Earl grey cupcakes

So, my cake was 2-tiered, 8" and 5", able to feed about 70-85 people.
The dessert table was for 30 people since I already have the buffet, I didn't want to order too much desserts.
Here was what a 30 person dessert table would consist of:
- 24x lemon meringue cupcakes
 - 24x double choc with caramel chips cupcakes
 - 48x earl grey mini cupcakes
 - 48x red velvet rose cookies with cream cheese dip
 - 1x snickers bar cheesecake pie
- 1x marshmellow oreo smores bar (something like a brownie)

Total cost of the cake and dessert table was $593.20
Dessert table itself was $450, so the cake was $143.20 :)

Cake cutting :P

Would like to give a special shout out to my friend Daron, someone I met during my holiday job, a fellow temp who stayed up late just to help me decorate the cover of my guest book. I really loved it <3 <3

Next, the buffet was from Stamford Catering Services.

I ordered the Super Value Buffet 7+1 Courses at $7.50++/pax
These were the dishes I chose:
› Prawn Paste Chicken
› Breadcrumb Fish Fillet with Tartar Dip
› Signature Curry Vegetables
› Garlic Butter Rice with Mixed Vegetables
› Wok Fried Bee Hoon with Assorted Vegetables
› Japanese Maki Roll
 › Refreshing Mango Drink
› Egg Tofu with Mushrooms & Seow Bai Chye

Initially, I placed order for 70 people but the caterer suggested for me to order for 80 people instead as there would be free delivery. There was still too much food, but I guess having too much is always better than letting your guests go hungry. However, the drinks are always not enough, so if you are planning parties, be sure to get extra bottles of drinks just in case ok?

And as all of you have seen, the balloons were all from Mtrade Novelty because it was much cheaper than the physical stores you find at Bugis. Be sure to order weight for your balloons as well because I didn't and had to use the cups in the chalet HAHAHAHA.

As for the ribbons, paper pom poms and LED lights, I got them from the physical stores at Bugis. I cannot remember the name of the store, but just exit Bugis Plus via the exit beside Blackball, turn left and follow the road, you should find it.

Since my theme was whimsical dream, I DIY-ed some mini hot air balloons and clouds.
The photobooth back drop was pain stakingly done by my two younger brothers. I really cannot thank them enough <3

And yes, I smiled for photos the whole night, till my mouth almost went numb.

Little notes for my guests :)

More DIY-ed photobooth props!

Overall, I would say that this is a pretty good experience, hectic but definitely a good memory to look back to. I still cannot believe that I managed a party for 70-80 people (both my friends and relatives) all by myself. I guess I will never ever want to plan a party till my wedding. Such a tiring thing to do. For now, I'll be happy to just attend parties :)

TL;DR: Am I proud to be a Singaporean?

Before I start, I just want to let you all know that this post is all based on my opinions, you can choose to agree or disagree, it's a free world. :)

P.S. It's a really really long post HAHAHA.

I am sure you all know Stephanie Koh, the girl who appeared on kpop star hunt 3 who had the bad attitude?

Read it here

But then, she uploaded a video to clarify her point of view.

It's always like this, people believe what they see online, on the newspapers and etc fully, not knowing that most of the time, the aim of publishers is to attract subscriptions & views, therefore, they are highly likely to not include certain parts of the footage/story.

And with the kpop star hunt, it is supposed to be entertaining. It's just like America's Next Top Model, we watch it for the juicy, bitchy fights. No one wants to watch boring stuff.

So, in the end, we have to take in everything with a pinch of salt. Not everything is fully portrayed nowadays.

So back to topic.

In case you didn't catch it, here are the points from her video:
1) Singapore is no place for an artist
2) Singaporeans are narrow minded
3) Singaporeans are not creative
4) Singaporeans are submissive
5) Singaporeans are not happy
6) Singaporeans are not nice people
7) Everybody just follows the rules

I pretty much agree with most of her points.
You have to admit that she does make a lot of sense, and she's voicing out something that I believe many young people are feeling right now.

Being the same age as her, I do understand where she is coming from. Plus, she had the privilege to go to Taiwan and Australia, she would definitely be exposed to different types of societies and then, that's where she managed to find which she likes.

Singapore does have a place for artists. However, there's honestly not much room for exploration because Singapore does not focus on the art scene much. Even though, it is indeed improving but it is still not sufficient compared to other countries.

I am sure many of you would have said "aiya, it's only art class, doesn't matter"
This is because many of our parents believed that maths & science are better.
Even humanities, social sciences are deemed as subjects that would not earn you much money.
It is just how we were all brought up to be.

Singaporeans are narrow minded?
I believe some are, while some aren't
It is precisely because of the way we are brought up, taught by the system and our parents (who were taught by the system) that the only way to survive in Singapore is to be rich and/or educated.
Therefore, many strive to do so.
With meritocracy, it worsens things, because only the best can survive.
But as more people are getting more educated, it's harder to find jobs even when one is educated.
(so what for right? HAHAHA but it does provide you with a cert and the cert gives you some sort of stability in case anything happens.)

She also mentioned that Singapore is a nice place to live in, ONLY IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT.
This is why, Singaporeans end up trying to reach for what the society forced them to reach.
To get a well paying job and survive in Singapore.

Steph mentioned about how her well decorated English homework didn't receive any acknowledgement from her teacher.
Some of you might think that since it's English homework, it should be done properly.
But then, who in the world set the rules, saying that there should be no drawings or decorations on any of your homework other than arts?
No one right?
So why are we restricting creative juices from flowing?
If I were a teacher, I would definitely encourage decorating of the students' homework, at least it makes studying for my subject more interesting, rather than writing chunks of words.

Don't you understand the idea that once you enjoy the subject, you'll want to study for it?
Well, that's the case for me.

Erm, for the submissive part, I do have to agree.
But it's all because of Singapore's strict rules and our upbringing.
Most of the time, people just don't want to get into unnecessary trouble.
Yes, I'm sure many people would say that Singaporeans stand up for other people, I do see that a lot online, but how often do you see it in real life?

Plus, there are certain things that cannot be mentioned in Singapore for peace's sake, for example things that would result in racial or religious disputes. Although to be honest, race is nothing more than just skin colour (it is true and research has been done).
And, we are a "fine" city, so if you fail to comply to the rules, you'll get fined.

So, in order to avoid unnecessary troubles, Singaporeans become submissive.
It's just how our society is like.
We just have more rules than other countries, but it is also what makes Singapore relatively safer.

Singaporeans are not happy.
I have to say that no one is happy all the time.
But I believe that most Singaporean kids nowadays are really overwhelmed with a lot of work.
Their parents emphasize a lot on their education because the parents know how far a good education can bring someone.

This causes the kids to have less free time to play and explore, and spend more time cooped up in their rooms, looking at homework, assessment books and attending extra classes.
This also means that the kids have less time to spend with their parents given that the parents have to work, the kids might not be brought with proper character.

I've seen kids who think they know it all when they are only in primary school, but one day, they'll learn the harsh way that not everything goes their way.

Also, many a times, we are forced to study the things that we don't want to.
For example, how much freedom do we have in choosing the subjects in school?
We only get to choose in Sec 3, J1, poly, and uni.
But then again, other than poly & uni, most of the subjects provided for selection are pretty limited.
And not everyone finds what interests them from that list.
So eventually, we are forced to study what is "best" for our future or what we can score well in.

Then when we graduate, how many of us actually get jobs that we like?
I believe many of us end up going into industries that we never thought of going into.
That's why people become unhappy.
But if you think about it, it happens all over the world.

Yet, why is it that when people don't just go and do something they like?
Sometimes, there just isn't enough opportunities available or that, that certain job isn't very well received in Singapore.
I'm sure some parents would still be turned off by the idea of having to have their kids become singers, DJs etc because they see it as a job that doesn't bring much income.
Of course some would allow that, but I've seen cases that don't.
And I'm pretty sure this doesn't only happen in Singapore.

Next, Singaporeans are not nice people.
Are you sure?
Some of them are definitely not, but it's not the case everywhere.
Steph mentioned about how Australians asked her how was her day even though they were complete strangers.
What I have to say is that Singaporeans aren't brought up the same way as Australians.
Singaporeans are just more conservative than Australians, in my opinion.
For me, I would definitely want to help someone out, but some times, I'm afraid that someone might turn me down, or reject me etc.
I personally hate rejections.
And it brings me back to the point that it could be that people are afraid of unnecessary troubles.

I've seen a lot of nice people, especially in the service industry.
I've seen customers who had been really really nice.
But there had been cases whereby there were some who just gave the "I am high and mighty" vibe.
Like seriously? You're here to eat, I serve you your food, I take your orders.
I should provide you with good service, yes, but who do you think you are to be rude to me?
I'll be nice to nice customers definitely, but some people just don't reciprocate your kindness, and it's sad.

And maybe, it's because of these rude people that disheartens the nice people, causing them to no longer be as nice as before. Sometimes, it serves as a form of protection for themselves, as nice people sometimes get taken advantage of. It is true.

And her point about ppl following the rules is the same as the one being obedient.
She repeats the same things actually HAHAHA.

But anyway, I'm not sure if I'm proud to be a Singaporean, but at least I feel safe here, for now.
Given that we don't really have random shootings, natural disasters, and the females are safe to go out at night here.

And, of course, given the course that I'm studying, I'm sometimes quite skeptical about things. But I am open towards a lot of things, because I believe in freedom of expression.
HAHA.

I believe that governments & media everywhere is not 100% reliable.
You have to know that the main aim of a government is to remain in power.
If not, they would not do so much to appease its people.
Well, sometimes, they resort to brute force, but there's bound to be propaganda.
Just that we do not realise it.
If we realise it, it wouldn't be propaganda.
That's why, propaganda tactics change from time to time because people will figure it out over time, making that propaganda useless.

Then, as for the media, like I've mentioned earlier, they are there to create something that captures audiences' attention, some times, they wouldn't even bother if the news is credible or not, they just want the pizazz. Not all, but most.

Okay, every society is different, each has their own set of values, rules and norms.
Those of Australia would differ from those of Singapore's.
And, everyone's preferences differ.
Therefore, not every Singaporean would like how Singapore society works, and not all Australians would like how Australian society works.
So to me, I do appreciate Steph's honesty.
Because it is indeed things that I relate to.

But here, in Singapore, it's where my family, and my friends are.
Even if I'm upset with all the bad news related to our transport system, ridiculous stomp news etc, it is still a place I'll call home.

But I do hope that it'll be become less stressful and more fun, which I highly doubt it'll be. :(

Then again, you do have to acknowledge how good everything in Singapore is.
The education system, though rigid, is pretty darn good.
This is the reason why many foreigners want to come over and study here.
Our infrastructures are very safe, our food are very safe, our medical sector is quite good in my opinion.

So, my point is, in a country, there is always the good and the bad.
You can't have the best of both worlds.
Steph might have been biased because she likes Australia and Taiwan more than Singapore, therefore, her view point would be that Singapore is inferior and hence, she would put out arguments to support her stand.

And since, it is her argument, her stand, her point of view, there is no right or wrong.
People shouldn't hate on her because of her views.
You can't tell a person that their views are wrong, because who said yours is right in first place?
We can disagree or agree, but we shouldn't hate on her because of it.

If you disagree, simply press the "x" on the top and look at something else.
If you agree, you can't really do much either.
So just take it as some sort of a food for thought, to think and reflect whether what she has said really reflects how Singapore/Singaporeans are truly like.

And I saw people attacking her because of her accent.
This, I think is dumb.

Sorry for being mean, but having an accent doesn't really make a very good argument.
She probably lived overseas for a long period of time, therefore she has an accent.
It's just a way to fit into the other country. I'm sure you'll get influenced by your friends after you've hung out with them for long right, why doesn't any call that fake?
Do you get my point? :)

It's not like she went there for a week and came back with that accent right?
If it's so, then go ahead and shoot her with that accent argument.

If not, if you can't think any good arguments to prove your point, then don't talk.

I'm not on her side, nor anyone's side.
I just cannot stand it when people find the most ridiculous reasons to shoot someone, and it just shows how dumb they are. (pardon me)

Soooooo. This is the end of what I have to say, and I'm so tired after thinking of the above essay and a long day out :(
So, I'm sorry if there's any flaws because I'm not perfect.
I'm not forcing anyone to agree with me too :)

Right now, I just want to sleep.
GOODNIGHT PEEPO!

TL;DR: Healthy VS Skinny

Hihi!
People keep asking me how to lose weight even though I'm not very skinny :(

But, I am proud to say that I've lost 7-8kg from Aug till now!
However..... I'm not eating healthily now because it is still the holidays!

That's not the main point!
I am here to talk about the difference between being healthy and skinny!

If you've seen my previous posts on losing weight and healthy eating habits, you'll know that I've been telling you girls that you should lose weight healthily.

Losing weight doesn't mean that you stop eating all together.
If you do this for a prolonged period, your body would eventually not know what to do with the food once you start eating normally, and they'll all be stored as fats.
AND THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU WANT!

Some people choose to go on extreme diets, like eating only fruits and vegetables, or only juice.
Well, this is good if you are doing it for a maximum of 5 days to just cleanse your body of all the junk (esp after the holiday season) but it's definitely not healthy in the long run.
Your body needs energy, so as you cut down on simple sugars such as white rice, white bread, pasta, you should still eat complex sugars such as wholemeal, oats, muesli.
And alternative, is that you eat white meat or fish in replacement of carbs.
What I ate during my "diets" was chicken breast and salmon.
(FYI, you still need fats, but healthy ones because your organs are cushioned by fats, so if you don't consume fats, it'll be bad~)

At the same time, you should exercise!
If you don't want to go out and run, then head on over to Youtube and search for cardio exercises.
Do those that you can feel the kick afterwards, like literally panting after you end.

Then, to rid those jiggly fats and tone your body, simply do toning exercises.
You should focus on a body part a day, and do it over a week.
Eg: Monday (arms), Tuesday (legs), Wednesday (abs), Thursday (full body)

Something like this, and you can alternate cardio in between!
Like maybe odd days, you do cardio, then even days, you do toning!

This is like the gist hahaha.

And, I know, there will be people who will ask me how to get rid of bulky muscles, well, I don't really know about that. But I think genetics has a part to play as well.
The nature of the sport you do also plays a part. If you do short sprints very often (such as those in touch rugby), then you'll probably have bulkier thighs than those who do long distance running.

Also, do not consume anything within the next 2h after you're done exercising.
Guys (& some girls) who want to bulk up, they'll drink protein shakes right after they workout, but if you just want to lose weight, then you better not.
This is because, whatever that you eat within that 2h frame will be used to repair the damaged muscles in your body, (this is the reason why your muscles ache the next day) making it bigger than before.
So don't eat after your workouts! :)

Then for those who are naturally skinny and have high metabolism rates.
I know you're trying to gain weight, but it seems impossible.
However, you should still eat healthily, eat more carbs, yes. But don't spam fast food.
Just because you're skinny, doesn't mean that you're healthy.
You still can have high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and etc because of your unhealthy eating habits.

So, like I always say, eat healthy, do your exercise, and make this unique to yourself!
Adapt to your own liking, so you can do it on a daily basis, don't make this feel like a chore, or else, you'll not have the motivation to carry on with it.

Oh oh, and, not to forget, you can have a cheat meal, MEAL, a week so you can have a goal to look forward to. It's just for a meal, not 3 meals for the entire day ok?

And you know, there's this hype about the thigh gap and now, the bikini bridge.
Well, my opinions about it is that, it makes girls look anorexic.
I know some of you are born skinny, and I'm not talking bad about you, I'm talking about those who purposely want to be stick thin.
Why torture yourself? :(

Why not try to be skinny for life? :)
Heck the trends of having thigh gaps and bikini bridges, just be healthy and you'll be happy!
I'd rather girls aim for abs than to aim for gaps and bridges.

By the way, these are all my own opinions, I don't need everyone to agree with me ^^
And, I'm sharing all these for fun, I am not an expert at this weight loss thing because I'm still not at my desired weight, neither am I toned enough :(

So... BUHBYEEEEEEE~~

TL;DR: Using class to measure love?

I believe most of you have heard about the ex RGS student saying that her friend shouldn't have married an ITE graduate. If you haven't take a look at the photo.

Well, I am disappointed when I see someone with such a mindset.
Yes, we are a country with a certain degree of freedom of speech, but that doesn't mean you can put other people down.

You know what she sounds like to me?
A rich, act smart, air head.

She is entitled to say her opinions, so now I'm saying mine.

I feel that she is just a black sheep. She is disgracing RGS, and NUS. As cliche as it might seem, love isn't measured by how rich you are, where you studied at previously etc.

A guy who graduated from NUS could have no aspirations at all, while another from ITE could be aspired to do something great. I would definitely prefer a guy with goals than a guy with the cert.

Yes, the companies would prefer someone with a cert from NUS than one from ITE, but the one from NUS probably wouldn't last long if he isn't motivated enough.

Another thing, this Heather Chua, did she earn her own money? Probably not, did she get into RGS with her own abilities? Probably not either. She, like many of us, got enrolled into our primary schools because of our parents' decisions. So I don't see why she keeps bragging about it.

People from higher class won't lose everything is it? They are immune to all the economic downturns is it? Likewise, people from the lower won't rise to top is it?

I always don't get this class divide. Yes, if you're from a better family background, you'll have a better start in your early years, and because one is so privileged since young, she never understands hardships. She will never got to experience what we "poorer HDB dwellers" got to experience. We had a childhood, we played around like there wasn't anything to worry about. We had neighbours, friends, life long, TRUE friends.

Heather Chua probably only surrounded herself with rich people, this means that she might just leave them the moment they become poor. Like the typical hypocritical friends you see on TV, those who leave you in the lurch when you need help the most.

So, education doesn't determine one's maturity. The more education you get, doesn't mean that one will be wiser, or better at PR-ing. I have met people who are in NUS, but have terrible EQ. They are super bad at making friends and managing friendships. They don't know what should be done/said at which occasion, and they always piss people off. These type of things come with experience, comes when people teach them to you. So, if Heather has never met someone who was willing to be frank with her (probably because they wanted to have more rich friends, so they didn't want to ruin the friendship), she would never have known that this type of opinions shouldn't be said on FB.

Likewise, age doesn't determine maturity as well. As you can see, a 40 year old is behaving like an ignorant little girl, blabbering about things that she shouldn't say.

Also, if you have gone over to her wall (she has been deactivated though), you would know that you can't find the ITE post anymore. And, she has now started attacking the Muslims because some accused her of posting a picture of the car that doesn't belong to her because of the reflection in the car.

She said that Muslims are dumb and all.

I just feel that even though these are her opinions, they are pretty disrespectful. We are all humans, no one should be denied of any right. (Same goes for homosexuals)

But then again, she could just be a made believe person, I mean, nowadays, you can be anyone online right? HAHAHA.

And, I think I'm typing rubbish, coz I kinda went like this half way.

Oh yes, and the Rachel Wong saga.
Read it on her blog here!

There has been rumours that she slept with her bestie's bf or something like that when she was still tgt with her ex. But apparently, it wasn't true.

I think that cheating is definitely wrong, but if she broke up with her ex before getting tgt with her bestie's ex, then I think it's fine. Although it breaks the "sister code", love still can't be controlled.

Her bestie should be more open about it, since she has already broken up with her ex, why can't her friend be together with him since they are in love? But then again, I'll feel sad if my bestie was together with my ex.

But if you look at it, it's something that really cannot be controlled.

And with regards to the rumours, everyone can say whatever they want. But I believe, like anyone else, the only thing that matters to Rachel is that her close ones know the truth. What the social media says shouldn't mean a thing.

People on social media like to speculate, they like to talk about something they heard from someone else based on groundless claims. So let them speculate, let them say what they want to say. They don't matter, they don't even know her, and vice versa.

So whether she cheated or not, it is her personal life. The rumours could have been made up to defame her, or it could be true, but no one knows.

So, the difference between Heather's saga and Rachel is that, Heather's was something she brought upon herself because she talked about something that is sensitive on FB, while Rachel was merely moving on to the next relationship, and some one decided to make it known to the world about it.

So, Heather deserved it, Rachel... hmmm, I don't know la. HAHAHA.

UPDATE:
The main idea of this post is to let people know that I am against the idea that other people have, that rich and well educated are better than those who are not. I believe that wealth and education don't determine good you are as a person, character does.

And, as for Rachel's saga, people can choose to side whoever they want, but ultimately, it is her relationship and friendship. She can do whatever she wants. If we are unhappy, she doesn't even have to bother, to be honest, who are we to her? Whether she's faking innocence or not, we will never know, and what we see online are just hearsay, biased accounts of the story.

So ultimately, why do we have to feel so upset about it? It isn't even related to our lives. It is her relationship, not ours or our friends'.

Let me continue to think about my bday prep! HAHAHA.
Had been having so much japanese food that I'm so satisfied :)

HAOOOO
BUHBYEEE

TL;DR: Trends

*Disclaimer: These are purely my opinions, no harm intended*

So what's up with all the trends????

You know, there's a lot of fads going on, like places to go and eat at, fashion.
People are following trends after trends.

Have you ever wondered where the trends came from?
It is probably because someone started it, then someone else saw it and thought it was nice, and the cycle continues until everyone starts following it.

But the thing is, what is IN, might not even suit you.

For instance, the past trends, dyed and frayed HWS.
I remember when I started buying KE shorts, no one I knew had them. But as soon as I got them, more people knew and wanted to get them as well.
Then, this trend grew, and the LJ shops decided to bring in dyed shorts as well.

But the reason why I NEVER EVER BUY SHORTS from LJ shops was because of these reasons:

This is a pair of shorts sold on Butteredgun, to me it looks cheap, like $10, but the price got jacked up to $20+ (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Yet, the colours and the cutting aren't nice at all.
And the denim doesn't have a brand, like some cheap denim y'know.

(Sorry, I'm not defaming them, I just don't like :( )

And this is a pair I recently bought from KE.
The colours are more vibrant, and the cutting is much nicer.
And an important thing is that it isn't mass produced, like every piece is unique and handmade with love by the owner.
And the denim used is branded (Levis, Wrangler etc)

So pretty please hahaha.

However, not everyone is willing to spend a hefty amount on a pair of denim shorts, which explains why people still buy that kind of shorts from LJ shops.

To me, honestly, I love KE shorts because of the colours and the cutting, and, I'm willing to spend on such pretty things. Reason why I have like over 10 pairs of these babies. <3

So, now, I'm going to prove a point, that trends might not suit everyone.

For example, if you are young and you wear HWS, you'll look good definitely :)

Look at this hot chick (HAHAHA)

She looks pretty good, but imagine if someone much older, let's say in the 40s feels that this HWS trend is cool and want to follow it and wears a brightly coloured pair of shorts out, I mean this would definitely be my reaction LOL

HAHA.

Haiya, my point is that, don't follow trends blindly. It's okay to think that certain trends are nice, but you'll have to think about feasibility.

Questions to think about before following a trend:

"Will I wear it often?"

"Will I still wear it after the trend dies down?"

"Does this type of clothes suit me?"

Like for me, there was a period where the army prints were in. I didn't like it because I don't foresee myself wearing them often.

Same goes for when paddlepop was trendy.
I liked the colour combination, but I never liked any of the designs that were on the market, they look too weird to me.

Ah, yes, and the my little pony trend.
I cannot imagine myself (then a 19 year old) wearing a cartoon shirt out. I'm like no way man. HAHA.

These are just some of the few trends that I will never ever follow HAHAHAHA.

Yeap, be unique, create your own styles, don't just follow blindly so to fit in.
I'm sure you don't follow instructions blindly right?
And, you need to stand out in the fashion scene, not blend in :D
Plus, old trends die, and new trends come.
Buy things that you like, and not things you think other people will like :)

Au Revoir. Buhbyeee ^^

TL;DR

Now, I'm going to talk about life.
Well, it's not some philosophical thingy, just my point of view.

I honestly feel that it was through university, through hall life that I've come to understand and realise many things.

First of all, my family.
I understand that my family isn't in the best shape.
My parents are, well, unhappy together. But deep down inside, me and my brothers know that they are staying together because of us. And, the dreaded would come soon.

I've always felt that my family was like every other happy family out there, until secondary 3, when everything came crashing down.
At first, I was very affected by everything, but soon, I knew that there was really nothing much I can do. I can only watch, and, well, I don't know.. LOL

You know, it is only when you're older, then you realise how important your family is to you. It is also due to the fact that you've come to realise the life is very fragile, every single mishap could take away anyone.

My dad had death brush him by, last month, where he would have been knocked down by the car if he had not gone back and retrieve his wallet. It is things like these that make me scared, scared of having to face the fact that my parents, or in fact, anyone can just leave me.

And of course, now I'm proud that my brother in Higher Nitec has gotten a scholarship with the Navy and is excelling in many sports while my youngest brother in NA stream is scoring well, except for his languages HAHAHA.

Next, friends.
In life, not all friends are reliable. Some just pretend to be your friends, some just want to dig out shit about you.
I'm sure you've heard plenty of such phrases.

Since young, I've always been a person who trusts people very easily. And people take advantage of my trust. I like to share my secrets with them, and eventually, these secrets became something they used against me.

I've been betrayed, backstabbed. It was heart breaking to know that those "friends" whom you've trusted so much talk bad about you behind your back.

And after staying in hall, you'll realise that being with friends on a day to day basis would make gossiping and backstabbing more common. The reason why, it'll be good to be cautious.

Hence, being selective in who to trust and pour all my secrets to is very important to me. HAHA. I'm not selective in making friends, just selective in making VERY CLOSE FRIENDS. :)

Then comes relationships.
The last relationship ended 2 and a half years ago.
Looking back, I was glad that it is still a part of my past that I've never regretted. Though, I know now that I was a little bit too immature.

I was still quite good to my bf then. I gave him freedom and all, but the problem was with myself. My insecurities. Something I believe all girls experience. Even being single now, I constantly compare myself to other girls, let alone say, when you're attached.

And no, I didn't tell him to stay away from the girls, I knew he had his rights. But all I did was to keep to myself and rant on social media, which was a bad idea. It's like hanging all your dirty linen out for everyone to see.

Now, looking back, if I had been more secure, if I gave him more trust. Maybe things would have turned out differently?

Oh and one thing, I've always given all my time to him, as though my whole world revolved around him. And that was a grave mistake. I didn't realise that we had to have other "lives" outside that of our r/s. (you know what I mean la)

Now, I believe we're still very close friends. Though we're both very busy with uni/NS.

Singlehood is fun, but looking at how my friends are getting attached one by one. I can't help but feel a little sad at times. Like y'know, there'll always be a shoulder ready to let you lean on when you're tired, an embrace that will forever be there if you're sad, and someone to shower all your love to.

Me and my fantasies. HAHAHA.

But one thing's for sure, I have more time for myself

So what's the point of this post, I have no idea. Just ranting yo! :)

On a side note, I'll attempt to bake macarons next time! :)
Toughest challenge yet!
