TL;DR: Trends

*Disclaimer: These are purely my opinions, no harm intended*

So what's up with all the trends????

You know, there's a lot of fads going on, like places to go and eat at, fashion.
People are following trends after trends.

Have you ever wondered where the trends came from?
It is probably because someone started it, then someone else saw it and thought it was nice, and the cycle continues until everyone starts following it.

But the thing is, what is IN, might not even suit you.

For instance, the past trends, dyed and frayed HWS.
I remember when I started buying KE shorts, no one I knew had them. But as soon as I got them, more people knew and wanted to get them as well.
Then, this trend grew, and the LJ shops decided to bring in dyed shorts as well.

But the reason why I NEVER EVER BUY SHORTS from LJ shops was because of these reasons:

This is a pair of shorts sold on Butteredgun, to me it looks cheap, like $10, but the price got jacked up to $20+ (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Yet, the colours and the cutting aren't nice at all.
And the denim doesn't have a brand, like some cheap denim y'know.

(Sorry, I'm not defaming them, I just don't like :( )

And this is a pair I recently bought from KE.
The colours are more vibrant, and the cutting is much nicer.
And an important thing is that it isn't mass produced, like every piece is unique and handmade with love by the owner.
And the denim used is branded (Levis, Wrangler etc)

So pretty please hahaha.

However, not everyone is willing to spend a hefty amount on a pair of denim shorts, which explains why people still buy that kind of shorts from LJ shops.

To me, honestly, I love KE shorts because of the colours and the cutting, and, I'm willing to spend on such pretty things. Reason why I have like over 10 pairs of these babies. <3

So, now, I'm going to prove a point, that trends might not suit everyone.

For example, if you are young and you wear HWS, you'll look good definitely :)

Look at this hot chick (HAHAHA)

She looks pretty good, but imagine if someone much older, let's say in the 40s feels that this HWS trend is cool and want to follow it and wears a brightly coloured pair of shorts out, I mean this would definitely be my reaction LOL

HAHA.

Haiya, my point is that, don't follow trends blindly. It's okay to think that certain trends are nice, but you'll have to think about feasibility.

Questions to think about before following a trend:

"Will I wear it often?"

"Will I still wear it after the trend dies down?"

"Does this type of clothes suit me?"

Like for me, there was a period where the army prints were in. I didn't like it because I don't foresee myself wearing them often.

Same goes for when paddlepop was trendy.
I liked the colour combination, but I never liked any of the designs that were on the market, they look too weird to me.

Ah, yes, and the my little pony trend.
I cannot imagine myself (then a 19 year old) wearing a cartoon shirt out. I'm like no way man. HAHA.

These are just some of the few trends that I will never ever follow HAHAHAHA.

Yeap, be unique, create your own styles, don't just follow blindly so to fit in.
I'm sure you don't follow instructions blindly right?
And, you need to stand out in the fashion scene, not blend in :D
Plus, old trends die, and new trends come.
Buy things that you like, and not things you think other people will like :)

Au Revoir. Buhbyeee ^^
