TL;DR: Trends

*Disclaimer: These are purely my opinions, no harm intended*

So what's up with all the trends????

You know, there's a lot of fads going on, like places to go and eat at, fashion.
People are following trends after trends.

Have you ever wondered where the trends came from?
It is probably because someone started it, then someone else saw it and thought it was nice, and the cycle continues until everyone starts following it.

But the thing is, what is IN, might not even suit you.

For instance, the past trends, dyed and frayed HWS.
I remember when I started buying KE shorts, no one I knew had them. But as soon as I got them, more people knew and wanted to get them as well.
Then, this trend grew, and the LJ shops decided to bring in dyed shorts as well.

But the reason why I NEVER EVER BUY SHORTS from LJ shops was because of these reasons:

This is a pair of shorts sold on Butteredgun, to me it looks cheap, like $10, but the price got jacked up to $20+ (please correct me if I'm wrong)
Yet, the colours and the cutting aren't nice at all.
And the denim doesn't have a brand, like some cheap denim y'know.

(Sorry, I'm not defaming them, I just don't like :( )

And this is a pair I recently bought from KE.
The colours are more vibrant, and the cutting is much nicer.
And an important thing is that it isn't mass produced, like every piece is unique and handmade with love by the owner.
And the denim used is branded (Levis, Wrangler etc)

So pretty please hahaha.

However, not everyone is willing to spend a hefty amount on a pair of denim shorts, which explains why people still buy that kind of shorts from LJ shops.

To me, honestly, I love KE shorts because of the colours and the cutting, and, I'm willing to spend on such pretty things. Reason why I have like over 10 pairs of these babies. <3

So, now, I'm going to prove a point, that trends might not suit everyone.

For example, if you are young and you wear HWS, you'll look good definitely :)

Look at this hot chick (HAHAHA)

She looks pretty good, but imagine if someone much older, let's say in the 40s feels that this HWS trend is cool and want to follow it and wears a brightly coloured pair of shorts out, I mean this would definitely be my reaction LOL

HAHA.

Haiya, my point is that, don't follow trends blindly. It's okay to think that certain trends are nice, but you'll have to think about feasibility.

Questions to think about before following a trend:

"Will I wear it often?"

"Will I still wear it after the trend dies down?"

"Does this type of clothes suit me?"

Like for me, there was a period where the army prints were in. I didn't like it because I don't foresee myself wearing them often.

Same goes for when paddlepop was trendy.
I liked the colour combination, but I never liked any of the designs that were on the market, they look too weird to me.

Ah, yes, and the my little pony trend.
I cannot imagine myself (then a 19 year old) wearing a cartoon shirt out. I'm like no way man. HAHA.

These are just some of the few trends that I will never ever follow HAHAHAHA.

Yeap, be unique, create your own styles, don't just follow blindly so to fit in.
I'm sure you don't follow instructions blindly right?
And, you need to stand out in the fashion scene, not blend in :D
Plus, old trends die, and new trends come.
Buy things that you like, and not things you think other people will like :)

Au Revoir. Buhbyeee ^^

TL;DR

Now, I'm going to talk about life.
Well, it's not some philosophical thingy, just my point of view.

I honestly feel that it was through university, through hall life that I've come to understand and realise many things.

First of all, my family.
I understand that my family isn't in the best shape.
My parents are, well, unhappy together. But deep down inside, me and my brothers know that they are staying together because of us. And, the dreaded would come soon.

I've always felt that my family was like every other happy family out there, until secondary 3, when everything came crashing down.
At first, I was very affected by everything, but soon, I knew that there was really nothing much I can do. I can only watch, and, well, I don't know.. LOL

You know, it is only when you're older, then you realise how important your family is to you. It is also due to the fact that you've come to realise the life is very fragile, every single mishap could take away anyone.

My dad had death brush him by, last month, where he would have been knocked down by the car if he had not gone back and retrieve his wallet. It is things like these that make me scared, scared of having to face the fact that my parents, or in fact, anyone can just leave me.

And of course, now I'm proud that my brother in Higher Nitec has gotten a scholarship with the Navy and is excelling in many sports while my youngest brother in NA stream is scoring well, except for his languages HAHAHA.

Next, friends.
In life, not all friends are reliable. Some just pretend to be your friends, some just want to dig out shit about you.
I'm sure you've heard plenty of such phrases.

Since young, I've always been a person who trusts people very easily. And people take advantage of my trust. I like to share my secrets with them, and eventually, these secrets became something they used against me.

I've been betrayed, backstabbed. It was heart breaking to know that those "friends" whom you've trusted so much talk bad about you behind your back.

And after staying in hall, you'll realise that being with friends on a day to day basis would make gossiping and backstabbing more common. The reason why, it'll be good to be cautious.

Hence, being selective in who to trust and pour all my secrets to is very important to me. HAHA. I'm not selective in making friends, just selective in making VERY CLOSE FRIENDS. :)

Then comes relationships.
The last relationship ended 2 and a half years ago.
Looking back, I was glad that it is still a part of my past that I've never regretted. Though, I know now that I was a little bit too immature.

I was still quite good to my bf then. I gave him freedom and all, but the problem was with myself. My insecurities. Something I believe all girls experience. Even being single now, I constantly compare myself to other girls, let alone say, when you're attached.

And no, I didn't tell him to stay away from the girls, I knew he had his rights. But all I did was to keep to myself and rant on social media, which was a bad idea. It's like hanging all your dirty linen out for everyone to see.

Now, looking back, if I had been more secure, if I gave him more trust. Maybe things would have turned out differently?

Oh and one thing, I've always given all my time to him, as though my whole world revolved around him. And that was a grave mistake. I didn't realise that we had to have other "lives" outside that of our r/s. (you know what I mean la)

Now, I believe we're still very close friends. Though we're both very busy with uni/NS.

Singlehood is fun, but looking at how my friends are getting attached one by one. I can't help but feel a little sad at times. Like y'know, there'll always be a shoulder ready to let you lean on when you're tired, an embrace that will forever be there if you're sad, and someone to shower all your love to.

Me and my fantasies. HAHAHA.

But one thing's for sure, I have more time for myself

So what's the point of this post, I have no idea. Just ranting yo! :)

On a side note, I'll attempt to bake macarons next time! :)
Toughest challenge yet!

Haters?

Meh. Everywhere I go, I see plenty of people hating on other people. From celebrities to blogshop owners to bloggers.

I don't get why these people love to hate so much. Too much time to waste? I admit, if I dislike someone, I'm usually jealous of that person or I simply hate that person. But you can only determine if you dislike that person if you know that person well what. So I don't understand how haters hate celebrities, blogshop owners and bloggers. Do you know them personally? No. Do you understand what they are going through? No.

I suggest that you mind your own business and make sure that you are better than them before you go around hating.

If you've got so much time that you can go around hating people, then I suggest you do something productive with your life. Think of what you want to become, what are your goals and work towards them. Don't waste your time on hating and trying to make other people's lives miserable. It isn't working. Plus, you're just going to get karma. Whether you believe it or not, some day, some thing bad is going to happen to you as a result of your bad karma. So here, I wish you all the best.

I used to hate some one for god damn long. But now, I realised, what's the point? Hating someone wastes your energy and time. Think about it, you need to stalk that person, if not, you won't have any thing to say about that person.

If you feel that that person is not someone you'd like to be with, stay away from that person! Is it that difficult? It's weird that you want to get close to that person so that you can backstab him/her so that that person feels sad. WASTE OF TIME MAN.

So go get a life people.

And to that cowardly anon on my ask.fm. You are obviously someone I know as I have never spammed my blogshop account with my pictures, neither have a spammed my own account with my pictures. Never have I said I think I was pretty. I think I look average. What, you're unhappy with this as well? At least I show my face, at least I show my name, I share my personal account and blog on my blogshop account. I don't hide behind the computer (or handphone for your case) and attack other people. You said that I need to get a life, but I have a life. I'm enjoying it. I don't go around hurting people like you do. If you are that petty, I must insist that you talk to someone so you can be more magnanimous. Girl, no point hating la. I don't even care about you. If you have a job and you are working productively, then you wouldn't have time to spam me. :)

Anyway, this is for you :)

To those who stood up for me.
I love you!~

End of my life as a freshie

Yes, I should be sleeping, but my body clock has been screwed. :)

Anyhow, I know everyone writes something when they graduate, but here I want to write about how my life as a freshie went! So I can reminisce when I get older *sigh*

It all began from Arts camp :')
I still remember Conan calling me and telling me over the phone that my OG is called "Rawkeye" and for a moment I was like "what the.."

I still remember stepping into Temasek/Eusoff hall (I cannot remember), being lost and all. Stepping into a full hall of people, meeting my OG mates for the first time, early in the morning. It was good to be freshies in school for the one last time. :)
And that marked the start of my wonderful experience!

R-house Arts camp 2012: Ravengers :)

Here, I met my dearest OG mates, they were the most enthusiastic bunch ever and my Arts camp experience would never be complete without them!

The day we all got burnt. LOL. Honestly never got so sun burnt before :(

Not forgetting all my OGLs and my councillors who were there every step of the way. They were the most caring councillors ever! They helped us refill our water bottles, bought us refreshments etc. All of us felt super loved and cared for throughout the entire camp.

Yeap, but Arts camp 2012 was an experience that I could never forget.
So I went back as a freshie councillor for Arts O week!
And we were called Rabba (Abba) this time round :)

And of course, I got to know even more awesome people and had another fantastic camp <3

And from this, I met Eliza!! My dearest "Jack" haha.
We came up with this nickname as I was nick-named "Rose" when we played secret pal during Arts camp. Being blind folded, we were insecure, so we talked to each other. And from there, we became really really close.

And now that an AY has passed, I realised, I haven't been meeting up with her :'( She has been busy with school CCAs and me, with hall.
We need to meet up my love!!

And then! I met my dearest Samantha!!!
It's really funny how we met.
We had fright night during Arts camp, and the pairs were dispatched, alternating between R and T house. Her partner and her was in front of my partner and I, so being scared, and being afraid that my partner would find me a nuisance  I decided to talk to her! And viola! We just continued to say hi throughout the camp, O week and up till now! I canot imagine myself not knowing her at all! If I didn't initiate the talk with her that night, I would have never known such a sweet and adorable girl :)

Then, to the next major part of my freshie life, Sheares hall.
Initally, I was more attached to arts as I enjoyed myself the most there!
And SWOC was probably not as fun to me in my opinion as arts camp had already set the bench mark for me.
But boy was I wrong about Sheares!

I was allocated to Blk B and I got to know my beloved Beekers!

They are lovely bunch of people. And of course, when such a huge group of people stay together, there are bound to be differences and disputes, but that is what make us bond.
And it is really heartening to see everyone come together to support each other :)

Life wouldn't have been any better without my level 5 sexy ladies!!
We just randomly came up with this when we created our whatsapp chat, and we stuck with it till the end!!

I honestly really cannot explain how grateful I am to be on the same level as this group of girls!
They are the most supportive and enthusiastic group of girls!
I love how we always head out for level dinners together and we never forget to gossip, jio everyone and shout where ever we go. LOL. Such a nuisance, but hey! I love it all! These girls made my hall stay complete <3

And now, I'm going to dedicate a few words to my dear girls!

First of all, dear Rongrong/jiejie/empress dowager, the oldest girl in the block and on level 5!! hehe. Don't whack me please! But you are the girl with the most seh please! hehe. Level 5 is going to be so different without you! Not seeing you waking up at dinner time like how I used to and sleeping at unearthly hours like me! I'm going to miss your Brazilian cheese buns too!! Omg, I'm craving for it now D:

Jiejie! I wish you all the best in your future endeavors and don't worry about your job! You can get one! Bu yao dan xin! And, enjoy your trip to Europe! I am jealous of you lehhhhh. :(

But anyway, I am going to miss you <3

Casssssss!~~
When we first met, we were like "hey, we are from arts!" hahah.
Omg, you're so cute, innocent and blur please!! :D
I am going to miss you :(
I cannot stalk you by looking at your slippers anymore and I cannot jio you for breakfast liaoooo. But we must go and eat together ah!

Anyway, last long with your boyboy ;)
Come back and visit!! <3

Dear Nancy, even though I've only known you for 1 semester, but you're such a darling! You were a wonderful addition to level 5 and you'll always be a level 5 sexy lady! So glad to have known you! You're such an endearing girl that everyone would love to hang out with! Be safe in the states and come back and visit us!! Chilli crab feast? omnomnomnom <3

Hey LOW XIN TIAN!
Hahah. I think we only got close this sem, and I'm glad we did! We gossiped, became bathing khakis and dinner buds. Wah, I cannot imagine my life without you, having to bathe alone, afraid that the lights would go off and no one to save me. LOLOLOL. Haiya, too many things to say to you already! But you have been such a dear. It's such a pity that I have to move to the short wing! :(

But we will shout from our windows and annoy the hell out of everyone! Ye?! hehehe.

My dear lilipad and jiajia, we are the trio package! (limin, 2013)
LOL. Clubbing buddies! hahaha.
This xiesijia really last warning, everytime accompany bf never accompany me :(
Kidding! <3
You're already skinny liao la. Stop complaining please! >:(

And Ng Li Min!! I wish you all the best for your transfer exercise ah. :)
And when you eventually become DJ Lilipad, don't forget that I gave you this name :P
(Don't simi sai me)

Hall life brought me away from my family physically, but I feel that through staying in hall, I've learnt that it is very important to treasure family time. So now, I feel closer to them even though I only bookout on weekends. haha.

Sheares has enriched my life, and I know it will continue to in the following AY and I can't wait to spend another year with awesome people!!

Throughout this year, I realised that uni life might not be the most appropriate one for me as I am someone who lacks self-discipline. But I realised that friends were the ones who encouraged me to go for classes. (Yes, I skipped classes last sem) And, I realised that I really have to strive hard to get to my goals.

I guess, uni has helped me grow, though I am still procrastinating, but I am learning and changing.

Now, I hope that all these memories will be ones that I'll remember for life.

SHEARES. NUS. FASS.

Me growing up!

And so.. This is me growing up!!

Yes I know, when I showed my friends my picture, they were like "you look like a boy!"
Yes I get it. hahahaha.
I had to say in what hairstyle I get :(

But from then, I looked more like a girl :)

Then, I had no pictures of my hideous self throughout primary school because I lost my EZ link card. But I do remember that I look damn bad. I was starting to grow a fringe and my fringe looked like it was a huge bunch of hair attached to my head, really. It's that bad.

This is what I put together last year. LOL.
2007, I was in sec 2, screwed up fringe because I cut my hair at a $10 shop :(
2009, sec 4, not that bad. But still, my fashion sense is zzzzz
2010, still haven't started my blogshopping madness. So, my fashion sense is still pretty screwed.
2011, started shopping like mad. hahaha.
July 2012, changed my hair style~~

Here in Aug 2012, I had been to several camps, got suntanned like mad during the multiple beach days I've went to. Hence explaining why I was so red and tan.
Come to think of it, my hair looked pretty nice in this picture.
Can't imagine myself with fringe now. Hmmm.

This is me when I'm already in Sheares Hall. :)

Then, subsequently, it's pictures of me now!! 2013! <3

I know I've evolved quite a bit. Hahahaha.
That's the thing about growing up. We all change. We all grow. We all learn what our very own preferences are and so on and so forth.

Times will change, people will change, this is a phrase commonly heard everywhere. But it doesn't mean it isn't true. So do treasure everyone and everything you have now. Embrace life, do your best and never let yourself have any regrets. hahaha.

Me and my random talks.

Anyway, one more!!

Okay! BYE!!! ^^
