Foodie Adventures: Windowsill Pies

TGIF!!!!!
But no, I've got a paper tmr morning :(

Anyway, the week before the start of my reading week, I went to Windowsill in the woods:)

78 Horne Road
Singapore 209078

Opening hours:
Tue-Thur: 11am – 9.30pm
Friday: 11am – 10.30pm
Saturday: 10am – 10.30pm
Sunday: 10am – 9.30pm
Closed on Mondays

It's a really pretty place and because I love things made of wood, I love it even more :)

It is located right opposite the Jalan Besar stadium and the nearest MRT station is Lavender.
It stands out quite a bit because the shops beside it are all older looking, so you won't have difficulty finding it :)

When you enter, you will be greeted with a lot of pies

(okay, squidward looks creepy)

The staff are really nice and guess what, there's no service charge and GST!
Well, but most of the things are self serviced, except for the plain water and your drinks which they'll serve you, otherwise, cutleries and all, you'll have to get them yourself.

I told you the interior looks pretty right? :)
I love the wooden ceiling piece because it's really unique and the lights that come down from it makes the place looks cute.

They have an area with books and magazines and well, the cool yellow fridge is for the chilled water they serve everyone :)

And guess what, they have a humongous teddy bear for your to hug and take photos with!
But then.. I guess many people have hugged it and all, so if you're allergic to dust, please do not risk it!

So, enough for the pretty interior, now for the yums hehe.

I ordered Aloe Vera Rooibus ($6) which was a non-caffeinated drink which smells like peach.
I know because I worked at a teadot cafe before.

Lemon strawberry meringue, grasshopper, white chocolate & truffle (not on the menu on site)
$7 per slice

I loved the lemon strawberry meringue one because it wasn't too sickening.
I get sick of chocolatey stuff easily.
However, I liked the white chocolate pie more than the grasshopper one.

Oh btw! The grasshopper one is mint & chocolate HAHAHA.

I'm gonna come back and try the other pies soon because they all look so good.

Okay, now for more photos!

Then, we took a photo of each other LOL

My dear Sammie :)

AND ME!

And this aspiring photographer took the magazines and the flowers on the table and started snapping photos. She even took photos of me for me!

I'll blog about those photos separately :)

Oh and yes. I'm gonna blog about my Electric Run experience, so maybe if you're interested, you can join next year! ^^

Here's a sneak preview!

Okay byeeee <3
I need to continue mugging for finals :(
7 more days till I'm free!!!!

Foodie Adventures: Mu Parlour

I'm sure many of you know that Holland Village is one of the places with tons of cafes (as well as bars and pubs) and maybe you might have missed out on this place simply because you didn't look up.

MU Parlour
16A Lorong Mambong
Holland Village
Tel: +65 6466 9336
Sun to Thu: 11am – 11pm
Fri & Sat: 11am – 2am

It is located right above Thai Express.
My friend and I almost missed it while searching for it LOL.

I always love the staircases that led to the cafes, this looks especially good with the rustic brick wall.
The one at D'good Cafe had a staircase too and had the alfresco area which was freaking pretty at night! LOL. I digress.

Anyway, we went right after class ended, at like 6pm :(
School's a burden.

According to Lady Iron Chef, their desserts are so-so.
But I was there to try their burgers! The black ones, yes, black. HAHA.

Anyway, here's more of the interior of the cafe.

I love how comfy the place feels and the white brick walls.
I love cafes with unique chairs and tables, it makes them different from the rest.
It does get a bit dark at night though as their lights are quite dim.
But a good ambience, just that it's rather bad for photo taking. heh.

Anyway, we bought plain vanilla cupcakes to Mu Parlour to enjoy.
Such bad customers, but hey, it was a rainy day and we were craving for some cupcakes.
And can you believe it, it was my first time trying PV cupcakes. No, don't judge me.
I've only tried twelve cupcakes like last year? LOL.

I know about them, just that I always don't get a chance to buy them, if not, I'd be lazy, broke, too full or whatsoever la. (excuses hahahaha)

My friend ordered the eggs benedict while I ordered the burger.
She got chamomile and I got earl grey tea.

See how pretty edited photos are. HEH.
The subsequent ones aren't edited because I'm lazy

So awesome to just chill and enjoy a meal with my friend ^^
Oh and, I chose this table because it would look good in pictures. I can't stand myself at times. HAHAHA.

The burger was good! No idea why the buns are black.
There's different fillings for you to choose from and I chose the beef patty with avocado, cheese, bacon.
It's really delicious. Although I have to say, the avocado taste got sort of overpowered by the patty and bacon. BUT, it was still delicious.

What more, the garlic fries were hot and crispy and fragrant. For a garlic lover, I loved it :)
I have to admit, I did have a bit of a hard time eating it, I had to dissect it bit by bit with my knife and fork. But if you're not afraid of dirtying your hands, go ahead and use your hands ^^

They should have a rockets salad, I love rockets.
With that said, the eggs benedict is really not worth it. This plate costs $11-ish I think.
And guess what, the bread isn't even toasted, the eggs were meh and the hollandaise sauce was meh too. Totally not worth ordering.

I have to be honest. I think D'good cafe serves better eggs benedict. However, Fika sells better aglio olio than D'good hehe.

I'd definitely encourage all you people to try their gourmet burgers because they are really good to me.
Doubt I'll ever order eggs ben from them, but you can always try and make the judgement yourself.
I might just go back to try their desserts, but hey, I've got too many cafes to strike off my to-go list to revisit places I've been to :(
Sigh.

Hey look at the sink! It's damn cool too!
Or am I too easily amused? I don't know LOL.

That's all for now! <3 <3
I've still got a few food posts to last me till after finals. Can't find time and money to go out now </3

Foodie Adventures: Late Plate

Hello people! This post is especially suitable for people who stays near NUS, studies in NUS or are going to study in NUS! Well, if you do not belong to any of the groups above, you can still make a trip down to visit this place!!

Late Plate
11 Kent Ridge Drive, #01–03
Shaw Foundation Alumni House
Singapore 119244

The place isn't very hard to find, and especially for NUS students, it would be a breeze!
Other than hanging out at Reedz cafe, The Deck or any of the canteens, you should try this out if you have a bit more cash!

My friend and I went on a Saturday morning because we stayed in hall over the weekend..
to rush for our assignment :(
I digress, anyway, it's quite empty and I liked it since I wanted to have a chill morning to just, well, stone. The wall decorations were simple and pretty, and flowers and wood will never go wrong :)

Good use of IKEA items there :)

(Look at how much more appetizing food looks like after adding filters. Hmm)

I ordered the tom yum pasta, and apparently, they change their plating every single time!
I saw my friends' instagram and they had theirs in a regular pasta plate, and mine was in a metal bowl LOL. But anyway, it doesn't affect the taste.

I love how it has loads of gravy, and I prefer this type of pastas over pasta with measly amount of gravy *cough* pasta *cough* mania *cough*
BUT NO MATTER WHAT, I LOVE TOM YUM PASTAS! THEY ARE HEAVENLY!

My friend ordered the burger, which I forgot the name. Sigh.
But it's delicious! However, burgers aren't my morning thing I guess, except Mcdonald's HAHAHA.

Anyway, it's quite a big portion, so all you girls should share it if you know you can't finish it!

And just when we were thinking of heading over to Brew & Bake for some desserts, the staff served us...

COMPLIMENTARY BROWNIE!

You've got no idea how happy we were!
We got to save some cash, have dessert and we didn't have to walk under the sun to get dessert!

It was really good! The brownie was sweet, the berries were sour (a bit to sour in my opinion) and of course, vanilla ice cream is ALWAYS fantastic.

Who doesn't love desserts you tell me.

LOL. I kid la. I'm not that mean.

But yes, I emphasize again, everyone in NUS should at least try this once!
I love tom yum pasta, and it is only for a whooping price of $8.90 so why not?!
It's much cheaper than pastamania's and it's so heavenly. TEEHEE.
It'll be a good place to chill in between classes, other than CLB or MRB :)
So visit it ok?

That's all for now!
BUHBYEEEE

Foodie Adventures: Fika Swedish Cafe

Hello! :)
Damn, I really blog once a month :(
But anyway! Here's another restaurant that I went to last month :D

Fika Swedish cafe

There are two branches, one at Milennia Walk and the other at Beach Road.
Just click on the "we are here" tab

DO YOU KNOW THAT SWEDEN IS FAMOUS FOR..

ABBA

Absolute vodka

H&M

AND OF COURSE, MEATBALLS!

Initially, I thought the restaurant would be quite far away from Millenia Walk, but unexpectedly, it was right outside. HEHE.

The front of the restaurant!
And yes, it's halal, so no worries my Muslim friends!

This was the barista's area and look! I just snapped his unglam face. HEHE

Soup of the day:
Clam chowder soup with croutons which was super delicious!
The soup wasn't that thick which makes it less gelat (sickening) after finishing the entire bowl.

This costs $6.90

My friend ordered smoked salmon crepe at $17.90.
I have to say, the smoked salmon was good, however, the crepe was a tad too thick.
If it was a little bit thinner, it would have been good.

Seafood pasta at $24.90
You get to choose between tomato base, cream base and aglio olio style.
And seafood pastas tastes best in aglio olio style (to me)
Oh yes, and there is a gluten free pasta option, just add $2 and you'll get to have a slightly less sinful meal. hehe.

This aglio olio was good, the taste and seasoning was just right. It might have been a bit oily but if it was too dry, it wouldn't have been so delicious.

MEATBALLS!
This is one of the MUST-TRYS.
This costs $19.50 and it is definitely better than IKEA's.
On the whole, it's just a lot yummier and you should really try it since Swedish meatballs are good :D

And hey! My OOTD for that day!
I miss my vibrant hair :(
Now my hair looks like some faded piece of.. thingy. LOL.

But yay! I promise! More foodie adventures to tempt all you hungry and greedy people.
And I've decided to stop my loots posts for now.
Too busy to collate anything :(

So.. till the next post, which hopefully won't be a month later. hehe.
