Foodie Adventures: Cucina Cafe & Restaurant

Hi hi :)
The other time, while Sammie and I went to Mu Parlour, some one sold us this card whereby we can enjoy one for one deals at Cucina.

275 Holland Avenue
Holland Village
Singapore 278993
Tel: 9248 6662

Operating Hours:
Sunday - Thursday, 18:00 to 23:00;
Public Holidays, 11:30 to 15:00;
Friday - Saturday, 18:00 to 23:30;
Eve of Public Holidays, 18:00 to 23:30

It is located right beside D'good cafe :)
I went there twice, so I'll compile the photos, and I might add on more as the deal is valid till December hehe.

The first time I went, it was after school, around 2-3pm, so the lunch crowd was gone.
It was nice because we got to enjoy :)

Wild Funghi soup ($9.90)
This is good in my opinion, it wasn't too thick, like you won't feel sick after drinking it.
But then again, it's a little pricey for me. Haha.

Seafood risotto ($28.90)
This wasn't very good though. I thought risottos are supposed to be stickier?
Maybe it's just my personal preference. Even Sammie said there was nothing fantastic about it.

Smoked salmon with caviar in vodka cream ($23.90)
First, I couldn't taste the vodka LOL
But then, this was nicer than the risotto HAHAHAHA.

Okay, so, of course, we were only charged for the risotto because of the one for one deal :)

Then I went back there the next day for Theo's belated bday celebration with my level 5 short wing girls.

Hawaiian Pizza ($18.90)
Thin crust pizza haha. It wasn't that bad, but to me, pizzas all taste the same LOL
I still love the Classified chicken one from Domino's :P

Sausage pizza ($20.90)
This was a bit salty for me, probably because of the sausage LOL
But still not that bad :)

Clam Vongole ($18.90)
The amount of clams in this is ridiculous. HAHA
But it's good because I like clams. However, I can't taste the spaghetti. Look at how little spaghetti there is :(

Bacon Aglio Olio ($18.90)
THIS THIS THIS.
This is a must try! Even though it's a bit oily, it's really delicious.
It's also spicy, so if you can't take spicy food, you'll have to be careful LOL
JUST TRY THIS WHEN YOU GO THERE! :)

Oh and, did I mention, the coupon/card thing I bought came with a free bottle of red wine.
I don't usually appreciate red wine, but it was quite good, even my friend who drinks wine said so!
In the end, we couldn't finish because we had to rush back for coach supper, which was another round of calories accumulation HAHA.

As you can see, the dishes here are slightly pricey, and I wouldn't have eaten here if not for the coupon I bought. I'm not that rich, even though I like to eat at cafes ><

But anyway, I think it'll be a nice place to go to for a special occasion. With that said, it is definitely not comparable to those super atas (high class) restaurants. Speaking of restaurants, maybe I should check out restaurant week and try out some restaurants :)

Foodalog: Banana "pancakes"

Hello all you awesome people!

Do you always crave for sweet stuff but yet always feel sad that you can't eat them?
Don't worry! You don't always have to stick to overnight oats!

Bananas always make awesome replacements for carbs/flour!
And one of it is the banana "pancakes"

First, add in one banana and an egg.
Sorry, I know this banana is too ripe and ugly!

But a ripe banana is soft and it makes it easier to mash it up! :)
Just mash until the egg and the banana is nicely combined!

Something like this, it's ok if there's some small lumps, but just makes sure that most of the banana is mashed up.

Then, heat up a pan, put in a tiny bit of olive oil and pour the mixture in :)
Wait for a bit for it to cook and solidify then it'll flip nicely.
If you flip it too early, it'll look like an omelette/scrambled egg more than a pancake

This is the product!
I didn't wait long enough for the mixture to solidify in the pan, that was why it turned out in pieces.

This, I waited and see! It really does look like a pancake :)

You can eat it with savoury sides (like sauteed mushrooms/grilled tomatoes) or with fruits & yoghurt!
If I want to eat it with savoury sides, I'll add a pinch of salt to the mixture to give a sweet & savoury taste. If not, it itself is sweet and yummy ^^

It's about 200 calories! :)
Of course, add healthy sides to make you fill fuller or just drink more water

Now for the unhealthy part!
I went to Hot Tomato with my dad and my youngest bro for dinner from super long ago!!

Minestrone with garlic bread

Ice lemon tea
(made from syrup, of course, but still prefer this over coke/sprite)

Mango salsa salmon!!! :)

Mine was $11.90, added on $5 for the drink + soup of the day.
I was quite pleased that the salmon was cooked the proper way!
Most of the time, salmon cooked outside gets too tough and dry and gross.
This was just the way I liked it, cooked on the outside, slightly raw centre and crispy skin
YUMMSSS

Oh yes! My brother ordered fish & chips, and the tomato salad was awesome!
It had cherry tomatoes and onions.
*drools*

Foodie Adventures: Fika Swedish Cafe

Hello! :)
Damn, I really blog once a month :(
But anyway! Here's another restaurant that I went to last month :D

Fika Swedish cafe

There are two branches, one at Milennia Walk and the other at Beach Road.
Just click on the "we are here" tab

DO YOU KNOW THAT SWEDEN IS FAMOUS FOR..

ABBA

Absolute vodka

H&M

AND OF COURSE, MEATBALLS!

Initially, I thought the restaurant would be quite far away from Millenia Walk, but unexpectedly, it was right outside. HEHE.

The front of the restaurant!
And yes, it's halal, so no worries my Muslim friends!

This was the barista's area and look! I just snapped his unglam face. HEHE

Soup of the day:
Clam chowder soup with croutons which was super delicious!
The soup wasn't that thick which makes it less gelat (sickening) after finishing the entire bowl.

This costs $6.90

My friend ordered smoked salmon crepe at $17.90.
I have to say, the smoked salmon was good, however, the crepe was a tad too thick.
If it was a little bit thinner, it would have been good.

Seafood pasta at $24.90
You get to choose between tomato base, cream base and aglio olio style.
And seafood pastas tastes best in aglio olio style (to me)
Oh yes, and there is a gluten free pasta option, just add $2 and you'll get to have a slightly less sinful meal. hehe.

This aglio olio was good, the taste and seasoning was just right. It might have been a bit oily but if it was too dry, it wouldn't have been so delicious.

MEATBALLS!
This is one of the MUST-TRYS.
This costs $19.50 and it is definitely better than IKEA's.
On the whole, it's just a lot yummier and you should really try it since Swedish meatballs are good :D

And hey! My OOTD for that day!
I miss my vibrant hair :(
Now my hair looks like some faded piece of.. thingy. LOL.

But yay! I promise! More foodie adventures to tempt all you hungry and greedy people.
And I've decided to stop my loots posts for now.
Too busy to collate anything :(

So.. till the next post, which hopefully won't be a month later. hehe.

Foodie Adventures: Kim's Family Restaurant

ANNYEONG~
This post was supposed to be up a month ago :(
But I was too much of a procrastinator and when I wanted to blog, I had too many deadlines to meet.
Lesson learnt: Don't procrastinate. LOL

Okay, so, I went to Kim's Family restaurant!
It is on the same road as Carpenter & Cook which I went last time.

17 Lorong Kilat, Singapore 598139
Tel: 6465 0535

When you step into the place, it really feels as though you've stepped into a restaurant from Korea.
The staff there were of mixed nationalities and there were a few part timers as well!
But there was a Korean dude! He looked cute because he was a bit chubby HAHAHAHA.

Right after we placed orders, the side dishes (Banchan) were served!
There were 12 different banchans in total, and apparantly, some of them change every time you go.
I love potato one (second from the left, second row) and the cabbage (third from the left, first row)
We asked for more hehe.

We ordered the seafood hotpot!
We would have gotten more if we had more money :(
But then, it was still awesome!

But then, we went there wanting to try army stew, but had no idea which is it.
Someone help? :(

This, by the way, costs $40!
Which is pretty good in my opinion :D

Right beside us is a wall filled with pictures of the restaurant's dishes and writings from everyone else who came before us!

And we decided to leave a mark too hehe.

Oh yes, we also ordered the onion pancake (pajeon) and damn, it was super delicious!!
But we couldn't finish it because we were too full.

Sammie looking so happy <3 <3
(she can't wait to eat actually hehe)

So many shots of my happy face, because I love Korean food!
As long as it's good food, I love it ^^

And at the end of our meal, we were served this sweet drink that was super nice and refreshing and some orange slices. It's a nice way to end the meal :)

The food and the atmosphere is very nice, but then the staff can come off as being not efficient as they do things rather slowly. But then again, it's the food and the ambience that matters the most to me.
So, just head there to have a meal when you have the time! Then you can always head next door to Udder's for dessert or to Carpenter & Cook for more food :)
