Okay, I've just dyed my hair with L'Oreal Hicolor Hilights in Magenta. I've seen really good results from other people so I've decided to try it out on my own hair because I don't wanna waste another $100+ at the salon.
Okay, so I started on my quest! (LOL)
So I bought 3 tubes of 1.2oz (34g) of L'Oreal Hicolor Hilights and 16oz Oreor Creme 30 volume :)
It's advised not to use 40 volume no matter what as it will spoil your hair, according to reviews.
By the way, I've only used 1 tube, I bought 3 tubes because I was kiasu ._.
The proportion of developer to dye is 2:1. So for every tube of dye, you'll need 2.4oz (68g) of developer. I didn't want to contaminate any of the measuring cups used for baking so I decided to weigh the developer instead. I don't know if it's accurate due to it's viscosity etc. The picture above the measured developer :)
Then, you squeeze in the red dye! (Looks weird though, haha)
After which, you mix the two together until a consistent mixture is obtained, like seen above :)
So, I got my mum's help to dye my hair. And I left it on for about an hour even though the box said 30 minutes. Washed it off and I was quite pleased with the results ^^
This is my faded red hair after dyeing it in August.
It looks brownish, but under certain angles, it looked brownish-red
This is my hair now, after dyeing. It's not very obvious in the pictures, but it's definitely brighter in real life. But as compared to the previous hair, it's obvious that it's red now. (I hope)
Plus, my hair doesn't feel damaged at all. It feels softer than before I dyed my hair hehe. :)

I hope this helps! I've ordered the dye and developer on amazon.com, you can find them on ebay.com as well :) Sucks that there's no Sally's in Singapore, if not we can get them at a really cheap price.
And, you can buy the brush and bowl from qoo10.sg :)
I will be doing a dip dye plum hair in a few days' time. Wait for it okay? I'll do a review on it too. hehe.
*UPDATED*
I just used another tube because some parts were not even. :(
