DIY: Dyeing your hair in different colours! Pink and purpleeeee

This is super outdated now that my hair has faded :(

As you know, my hair has undergone several changes in the short 5 months.

It's actually a pastel purple, I just mixed one whole lot of conditioner with a drop of dye. haha. 

Faded in a week because it was pastel :(

I used La Riche Directions Plum btw :)

 So now I'm going to teach you how I got my hair to this awesome range of colours!

Well. It's pretty simple, you can save loads of money and get more clothes!

Step 1: Make sure your hair is clean, wash it with shampoo and DO NOT CONDITION. The oil will prevent the hair dye from getting absorbed into your hair!

Step 2: Put on your gloves, open the tub of dye. (prevents you from fumbling later) Segment out the portion of hair that you want to dye.

Step 3: Put a piece of aluminium foil below the portion of hair that you have sectioned out. 

Step 4: Slab on the dye!! Make sure it is evenly spread out and coats every strand of your hair. 

Step 5: Fold the aluminium foil up nicely.

Step 6: You can choose to leave it or take off your gloves and put plastic bags over the aluminium foil. (I did this because my aluminium foil got dye on the outside, so I didn't want to dirty myself while I went to do other stuff. So yeap! Optional though!

Step 7: Carry on with whatever you have to do! Leave it on for as long as you want to. La Riche is a semi permanent dye, it won't harm your hair as much as permanent dyes would :)

Step 8: Once you think you've left the dye on for a long enough time, you can rinse it off! Rinse with cold water :)

AND TADAA~~

I'm so in love with this colour combination!! Mega love! However... Colours fade. Especially with bleached ends.

P.S. I used La Riche Directions Plum and Carnation Pink ^^

Now, the purple portion looks greyish. The pink part is still see-able though. haha!

I'm crying buckets thinking about how my hair colour faded :'(

But it's ok! I'm planning to try out La Riche Directions Plum and Turquoise next! Same style! Maybe this time, I'll post more in between photos? :)

DIY: Bleaching my hair

If you didn't know, my hair is now like this!

And many have asked if I did it on my own or did I go to the salon.

The answer is that I actually bleached my hair on my own :)

Of course, in this post, I'm going to show you how I did it ^^

So within this for month, I dyed my hair from bright red to dark brown (read here) and now I've bleached it.

I used Manic Panic's bleaching kit (costs $22). I used the 40% volume one, which can harm your hair quite badly :(

There's different durations you leave it on for. You'll have to look at your natural hair colour. Even if you've dyed your hair before, you look at your original hair colour, not dyed colour :)

So it means that the darker your hair, the longer you'll have to leave it on for

In the bleaching kit, you're going to find the following:

1 creme developer

1 sachet of bleach powder (inside the tub)

1 tub

1 brush

1 instruction manual

1 pair of gloves

1 shower cap

And of course, you start by tying your hair with rubber bands to mark out where you want to bleach.

I used those cheap colourful rubber bands I love so much haha. But they won't stain and all. So it's a good choice :)

Then pour the ENTIRE sachet of bleach powder into the tub.

Do not follow the instruction manual's instruction of pouring it in a little at a time unless you have the time to do so :)

Then gradually add the creme developer until you get a thick, consistent mixture. 

The mixture should be like a really thick cream and shouldn't be too liquidy.

Something like this.

Apply it even throughout your hair, making sure you cover every single strand.

I eventually took out the rubber bands because I wanted ombré ends, not dip dyed ones.

After I was done, I covered my ends with aluminium foil. But then I found out that I could have used plastics instead because people say metal oxidises the bleach faster. *shrugs*

Oh and yes, the packaging did mention that you should not leave the mixture for too long. Because this is what will happen. 

It'll bubble, and produce loads of gas :(

Anyway, this was my original hair colour. 

All smooth and shiny

And this is what I got after the first round of bleaching :)

This is an awkward yellowish orangey colour. :(

So I decided to bleach it again a day later!

But this time, I went to Watson's to get PALTY! It costs $14 and only Watson's carry this brand.

And it's not as drying as Gatsby ^^

You'll find the following inside:

1 bottle of I don't know what. (LOL)

1 white tube

1 sachet of bleach powder

1 pair of gloves

1 shower cap

1 squeeze cap

1 leave on conditioner

Instructions~

First you mix the bleach powder with the solution in the bottle.

Shake it for 80 times/30 sec.

You MUST shake it well!

Then mix the cream thingy in the tube with the solution.

Shake for 30 times/15 sec

Then cap on the squeeze cap!

And I repeated what I did during the first round of bleaching!

But I didn't tie my hair because I can see where I wanted to bleach already.

Plus, I used plastic bags instead of aluminium foil this time round :)

The result after the second round of bleaching!

See the contrast!

I love the ombré effect so much! And everyone keeps asking me if I did it at the salon!

When I told them I did it myself, they were all shocked :P

Well, I did apply La Riche Direction's white toner and it looks slightly less yellowish than right after I bleached :)

Now.. It's camwhoring time with my pretty hair!

By the way, many people say your hair will spoil when you bleach it. And it is true. That is why you'll have to do a lot of conditioning!

Spam hair masks, don't use conditioners anymore as they won't be as good as masks.

Put hair oils every single day, and concentrate it at the parts where you bleached.

I'm using Macadamia healing oil treatment.

I got this from one of my goodie bags from when I attended all the orientation camps in July last year :D

It's really good, and my friends all say that my hair isn't as bad as they thought it would be.

But they did mention that it's still looks dry :(

I actually bleached my hair because I wanted to dye it pastel pink/purple but since I like this hair, I'll leave it until I get bored of it :)

Well, the entire box was chocolate. I love my ice cream, but I'd prefer not to get chocolate flavoured ones because I'll get sick of them pretty quick.

But, I've eaten the Marble Slab one and it's so good!

To be honest, I've never tried Marble Slab before :(
