Foodie Adventures: Itacho Sushi

Hello everybody!!
I'm so tired after a late night and a night out with my dear friend today.
But, I felt that it's time to blog about the long overdue food trip!

If you follow me on instagram, you'll know how much I love Japanese food, especially sushi and sashimi. So, during finals period (end Nov - start Dec), I was busy mugging, and I stuck to my regular meals of oatmeal for lunch and only veggies for dinner.

I was glad that I was losing weight, but I missed eating good food.
So I merely told Jun Kai that I was craving for sushi and asked if he was in the next day (a Saturday) so he could drop me off to get some sushi.
I was only thinking of getting some from Cold Storage.

Then, a few minutes later, he came back and asked if I wanted to head out and eat together, somewhat of a lunch + dinner.
And so we did!

We headed over to Itacho Sushi at Star Vista and boy was it good!

Shrimp sushi
This was delicious! The shrimp was fresh and sweet.
Yummms

Favourite food!
I ate two plates of it
*beams*

Spring roll (mango sauce/spicy)
This was the first time I've tried this and it was DELICIOUS.
NO JOKE.
The sauce makes the entire dish yummy, but it's probably quite fattening too hahaha.

Grilled pork and spicy shrimp
I've never really had grilled pork sushi, so I tried it, and it's so juicy.
You should try it at least once man!

Cream croquette which is a must have when you go to Japanese restaurants
Soft shell crab which is also one of my favourites because I love seafood hehehe.

Grilled tuna, smoked duck, squid sushi in the background too!
Pardon me, I was too excited to eat, so I was lazy to take individual shots hehehe.

Up close of the smoked duck sushi, and it is so juicy!
Can you see the oil? Fattening yes, but it was so damn good.
One of the must tries in my opinion.

Sweet potato coated with caramel.
I was pretty disappointed when this came.
I thought it would be baked sweet potato, which is the classic one.
But it came as this.
The caramel was so sweet that it over powered the taste of the sweet potato.
:(

Crab meat chawanmushi!
Also one of the must-order dish when you go to the Japanese restaurant!
Nyahahaha.
I always like to choose the crab meat chawanmushi over the original one.
Expensive taste, like my mum always says.

Grilled salmon sushi
I love half cooked salmon as much as the raw ones.
These were very nice!
The fish was evenly cooked and it looked pretty. <3

After the good meal, Jun Kai offered to pay half of my share.
I am blessed, I swear.
So grateful because I was quite broke, but had to satisfy my cravings else I'll feel ultra sad as I was still controlling my food intake quite rigorously.

And, I know you're going to complain that I eat too much Japanese food, but I can't help it, sushi's awesome!

It's getting late, and I need to sleep!
Goodnight everybody!! <3

I wanna SUSHIMISU you!

Hahaha! Okay. I've been trying to come up with creative titles that reflect what my posts would be about. But I think it doesn't make sense at time D:

Let me show you a super random picture.
These are the lantern lights in my hostel room. :)
I actually spend more effort keeping my hostel room clean and pretty rather than my own room at home because I didn't have any say in the colours etc when I shifted in a few years back. But I had no choice because when we shifted in, I was only 9? haha!

Anyway, back to the topic.
This is my OOTD!
A basic V-neck tee from Cotton On sales, cardigan from wonderlust world and a cutesy red polka dots dress from a facebook seller.

AND AND! My backpack from the tinsel rack :)

So, I wore this to school. And afterwards, I headed out with my hostel mates for dinner at ICHIBAN SUSHI!

Had 2 plates of salmon sashimi! I was super contented because I had been craving for sashimi for ages! Probably because I kept having sashimi every week in the second half of last sem.

Had maguro avocado too! It had salmon sashimi inside too TEEHEE
This was good, because I didn't really like cucumbers, but this had lettuce so I love it :)

Potato Croquette! I had no idea how to pronounce, so I just pointed :(

Anyway, my exchange friend from California has never tried raw salmon before. In fact, she hasn't tried any raw food before, so we got her to give it a try! She was grossed out by the fact that she had to eat something raw. But in the end, it wasn't as bad as what she thought it would be. However, she still preferred cooked salmon. hahahahaha!

Then we headed to ACJC for our hostel drama production - The Supper Club.
It's a performance put up by our own friends from hostel. It reflects hostel life, though it did exaggerate some parts. But it was still pretty entertaining.

There was also an improvisation part where the cast had to act out scenes using what the audience gave. I felt that they were pretty good looking at the fact that they were not exactly professionals. A job well done Shearites! ^^

Then my dear neighbour bought Chewy Junior for the entire level 5 to share. hehe. MEGA LOVE. But fattening D:

Then, I had tiramisu from Tiramisu Hero! I got mine from FASS OCIP, because they were raising funds, so why not? :)

I got MommaHero for $7.50, which is the same price as that in their stores. So it wasn't that bad. I loved the tiramisu a lot. But I had 2 problems with it. I'm not the kind of person who loves bitter things, so I don't like coffee at all. But I'll eat coffee sweets/desserts. I was enjoying every bite until I reached the bottom, where the bottom most layer was soaking in coffee. I hated that part :(

Plus, I finished the cream on top. So I had to try to scrape the remaining cream off. The other thing is that I wished there was a bit more alcohol taste. haha. Well, you can actually personalise your own tiramisu, like the levels of moistness, the alcohol level etc. But it'll cost you a bit!

But then again, it's nice! And Sir Antonio is so cute! I love the jar so much that I'm keeping it! Though I don't know what I can put in it. But I'll figure it out :)

And I really want to try their BerryMomma. It's like cheesecake in a jar!

Okay! Enough! Next stop, Grin Affair!
